Creating a Mural
- Step One
Consultation with the client and, or their Interior Designer or Architect concerning the site of the mural, the size of the walls or ceilings to be decorated, if possible, a site visit arranged.
- Step Two
A discussion on the style, feeling, purpose that the mural is to fulfill. The overall color palette to be used, whether the design is to be formal, refined, elegant, playful, bold and sassy, soft, fragile, modern or referencing past eras of art. Having agreed on the general approach research follows. Collecting reference material from books and magzines are accumulated and shared to further clarify the perameters of the project.
- Step Three
Once the overall goals have been decided we created designs in color on paper to an approriate scale. Sometimes models are made and full scale samples created to help in the visualization of the completed project. Discussions of the details of the kind of paint to be used and as to whether the work will be painted in situ or, as in most cases, created on canvas and then applied to the walls or ceiling.
- Step Four
A price for the work including expenses, which might include scaffolding, is finalized. An upfront payment of 50% of the full price is made and an mutual agreement signed on the accptance of the terms and the time frame for the completion of the work is agreed. The final balance is due upon completion of the project. A price will be quoted for each project indivdually depending on its size and complexity.
